Back in September 2017, the Department of Communications, Climate Action and Environment formally announced the commencement of a "final consultation" for a new subsidy regime for renewable energy, to be known as the Renewable Energy Support Scheme (RESS). The Department's consultation ran until early November 2017.
On 24 July 2018, the Irish Government formally approved RESS.
The main elements of the new Scheme reflect a number of the consistent themes that emerged in the earlier public consultations, including:
